#1 Ft. Myers, Florida 

It's no secret that the Florida coast has some of the country's best beaches. While many flock to Miami or Orlando over this long weekend, we suggest hitting the southwestern side of the Sunshine State where you'll find a relaxed vibe, and the seven-mile stretch of Fort Myers' famed sugar sand beach. There are many direct flights to Fort Myers which make this an easy travel destination.

Aside from general sun worshipping, visitors can take a car to Fort Myers Brewing Company, go island hopping to boat-only-access beaches via Captiva Cruises, or get back to nature with one of the area's many nature walks or aboard a dolphin eco-tour. 

#2 Cozumel, Mexico 

Even if you aren't a party animal, Cozumel should be on your radar for Memorial Day celebrations. You can take a 3-7 night cruise to Cozumel which departs from cruise ports in Florida and Texas. If you are on the East Coast you can get a direct flight to Cozumel and you can go from airport to hotel in about 15 minutes.

May is the last month of mild weather until fall, with daytime temperatures in the late 80s and nights in the mid 70s. After this, it's hot, sticky, and full of mosquitoes. If you're looking for a long weekend of rest, retreat to a beachfront hotel on Playa Azul.
