We had a three hour layover in Seattle..Alaska gate agents and ticket agents, basically all personnel working for Alaska at Sea Tac most helpful and kept us informed of the delays....personnel in Burbank also most helpful. Only negative...bag was damaged somewhere along the way.....

Alaska Airlines has come a long way. They have made a bunch of improvements to their planes, including upgrading the seats, the entertainment, and general service. They have a few very new planes that are excellent: comfortable, in-flight wireless, and better storage in the plane.

Coast to coast without stops - a luxury in todays world of cut service airlines. Up to date planes, friendly crew, clean seats. This airline cares and proves it. I won't fly any other way to Beantown.

Alaska Air is an asset when flying out of Portland. The direct flight to Chicago bets any of the local competition.

I used to be a huge proponent of Alaska; they flew where I wanted to go and I never had any problems. All was good until one time, I had to change my flight reservation date. It seems that Alaska is a fine choice until you have to make ANY changes to your ticket. Then it's horrible. You have to pay $75 to change your reservation date. For someone who paid $90 for a ticket in the first place, that's a ridiculous fee. Another time, I had to cancel a ticket I bought for my dad. They told me I could use the value of my $107 towards another flight. I'm thinking that even with the stupid $75 change fee, I can at least use $22...but actually, if you want to make a change like using the credit towards someone other than the original user, it costs $100 to change the fee. OK...now I get to use $7? It's completely outrageous.

Summary: Alaska is fine as long as you NEVER anticipate ANY flight changes. But let's be real; you will need to make some changes at some point. And at that time Alaska negates all its positives. Just fly Southwest; free baggage check and NO fees for changes and cancellations. You'll thank yourself later.

I hate your lousy baggage fees. Why in hell don't you just increase your air fares. Next time, if I have a choice, I'll fly Southwest.

My son couldn't use his ticket, so I had to cancel it. It was an $80 ticket. I cancelled it over a month in advance. They charged me $75.00 to cancel the ticket. IN ADDITION, they're going to charge my credit card ANOTHER $75.00, and then issue me a $80 credit that I can only use on Alaska Airlines-- within a year or it will expire. Now, they say I made a mistake by asking for a credit. Evidently, that allows them to charge your card again. I thought they were going to put the $5 credit on the card, which was the only reason I gave it. I had no idea I'd lost my entire ticket fee, and then I'd be charged $75 on my credit card. When I called to complain, they defended this practice, and made it sound like the whole thing was my fault.

5 of us made plans to go on girls trip to Hawaii, when we checked in they had changed our seats without contacting us and separated 4YO granddaughter from her mom. When we voiced our concerns, they said "you just book a space on the plane, not a seat".

I fly monthly from Portland to San Luis Obispo. There is no good route.

United has a layover in San Francisco which is often problematic.

When Alaska flies non-stop, Portland to Santa Barbara, I always take this flight and then drive north to San Luis Obispo.

The drive is less than two hours, easy and scenic.

Booked Grandma's flight to bring her here to help us with a long spring break. Thought we saved $100 by flying her until we had to change airports. We booked her flying out of the wrong airport and the flight had two hour long layovers. To move her flight from Burbank to Orange County, 2 days after we purchased the ticket cost an extra $75 on top of the $400 ticket.

Their response: #1 That ticket is non-refundable and you had 24 hours to change it. #2 You agreed to the terms when you bought the ticket. It was a mistake to purchase our ticket from them. We won't be flying Alaska again.

On a flight from Los Angeles to Seattle I noticed hydraulic fluid leaking out of the wing. At 36k feet because of the temperature was barely leaking looked like a gel. But when the plane was at lower altitudes leaked like a seive. I have video if anyone is interested.

My flight was delayed causing me to miss my appointment and spending a night in an airport. Stuff happens right? I get it. But Alaska did nothing to compensate me for the missed day of work, the hotel night booked at my destination or just apologize for the hassle of a flight they screwed up on causing for a disastrous trip. In fact the customer service people acted like I should apologize to them for bothering them with an obvious problem. Funny thing is when I got to the airport I automatically went to Southwest and tried to check in, when the agent realized I was on Alaska she said "oh you'll be back" and laughed! Guess she was right, I'll never fly Alaska again! Which is sad because I fly to Hawaii 3-4 times a year, guess Hawaiian Air is gonna get that business - unbelievable horrible service!

My husband and I have flown these flights several times, since we are permanent residents of Palm Springs and have adult kids and grandkids in the Seattle area. We need more non stop flights in the summer. I am not a happy flier, so the less than 3 hour flights are wonderful! Usually on time and no long lines in Palm Springs. Seattle could be a bit more organized in security!

This flight was ultimately cancelled; but boarding time came and went, departure time came and went. All that time the employees kept coming and going, but not once in was any information given until "flight is cancelled" incredibly rude. The worst though was the aftermath! It took hours for the staff to resolve the future "fate" of their stranded passengers. Long long lines at the ticket counter.

I have always flown Alaska, but never really knew how good they were until I flew a different airline on the way to Miami. I'm not sure if you can ever get truly comfortable in Economy, but the flight attendants and gate attendants were friendly and wonderful. It makes the entire experience that much better. Alaska sets the standard for quality customer service all across the board. I am still bothered that if you need a meal you have to purchase it, but the meals were pretty decent. And to top it off, by the time I got to the luggage carousel, the luggage was already coming out to pick up. Yea Alaska you ROCK!

I usually fly in Alaska/Horizon's much smaller planes. I was pleased by the leg room in my economy seat. I was pleased that the gate agent had changed my seat from a center seat to an available window seat without my request. It was a pleasant surprise when I heard my name as I arrived at the gate.
