I have typically enjoyed flying on United in the past. Since the airlines have started charging for checked baggage the respect with which passengers are treated has declined considerably. We are no longer treated as paying customers but more like grade school children. My most recent flight started with misinformation about getting off in Portland instead of Seattle, the final destination. The agent said it would not be a problem with my return ticket if I did not load onto the PDX to SEA flight. (My sister picked me up in Portland) Wrong! The return flight was jepardized and nearly cancelled! In addition, the flight attendant literally placed her hand on my back and pushed me down the isle, telling me to stow my bag....if there was room... and take my seat. The mess created by all of the carry-on luggage was not the idea of the passengers, but the airlines. If they need more time to load, then they should figure it into the turn around time. Equally, forget charging for checking bags, add the $20 fee to the price of the ticket! The flight was not very enjoyable or comfortable. How much would they really lose if they gave everyone 3 extra inches without charging $50 for one leg? I will start looking elsewhere for air travel. Any suggestions?
