When checking in online ahead of time I saw that the flight had been overbooked and they were asking for volunteers to report to the gate. Once at the airport we were told that the incoming flight was going to be about an hour late and we would miss our connection in LA. Many of the passengers had to be rerouted. I had eight people in line in front of me and it took the agent 15 minutes to process the first passenger. I called Delta's 800 number from my cell and was told we had already been rebooked and would need to see the gate agent for our new flight for seat assignments. I travel a lot and was polite with that gate agent and asked for seats for myself and my husband. She was not the friendlies and told me that she would assign seat assignments later and would call me. After watching the long line of passengers we noticed people from our delayed flight were getting seat assignments before us. Fearing this flight would be overbooked, my husband approached her and she then immediately printed our tickets. We were told that our luggage would be delivered to us upon our return since it was already tagged for the other flight. Upon arriving in Indy 4 hours after we were to arrive, we found that our luggage had somehow arrived before us on "delayed" flight.

Delta used to be a class airline, comfortable seats, courtious flight attendants, easy check-in, etc...

This last experience with Delta was not acceptable. The check-in was lengthy because customer service reps were talking together in huddles instead of waiting on customers., The flight attendents were rude and abrupt with answers, the seat was sticky and got on my clothes... NOT a good flight at all!
