“Worst first class I've ever flown”

This was a pathetic version of first class. The seat, while large, was uncomfortable. The space between my seat and the one in front was minimal, about the same as regular coach seats on Jet Blue. No room for legrests. They showed one movie on a screen at the front of first class section. Unfortunately, my Bose headphones broke in the middle of the movie. They generously gave me one of their $2 earbuds, which were inadequate, so I gave up on the movie. The food service was comparable to the old coach trays. The did give me an attractive blue "tablecloth", however. The food itself was mediocre - wilted salad, overcooked chicken, and awful cake. All this for $980 round trip.
My previous first class flight was on American, and what a difference. Comfortable seat with leg rest, graciously served meal in several courses, including fresh baked cookies or hot fudge sundae. For entertainment, AA provided a unit with choice of 8 or 10 movies, music or games, including Bose headphones.
Delta should be ashamed.

There's very little competition for non-stop flights between San Francisco and Detroit - Northwest had been "it", but now of course it's Delta. Customer service has definitely improved and the flight attendants are quick to provide additional help to the flying public with a smile.
What I *detest* now about flying is the baggage fees for checking even one bag, and the pressure then for everyone to bring carry on. It isn't working. It's a lame idea and I wish the industry as a whole would reconsider this practice.
I recommend Delta - surely a better experience than Northwest ever was.

Even if you print your boarding pass, pay for your luggage online, you still have to wait in long lines, even for the red eye to turn in your bag. This flight at least had a free movie. Would be nice to have gluten free options for the ridiculously prices snacks.
