I used to be a huge proponent of Alaska; they flew where I wanted to go and I never had any problems. All was good until one time, I had to change my flight reservation date. It seems that Alaska is a fine choice until you have to make ANY changes to your ticket. Then it's horrible. You have to pay $75 to change your reservation date. For someone who paid $90 for a ticket in the first place, that's a ridiculous fee. Another time, I had to cancel a ticket I bought for my dad. They told me I could use the value of my $107 towards another flight. I'm thinking that even with the stupid $75 change fee, I can at least use $22...but actually, if you want to make a change like using the credit towards someone other than the original user, it costs $100 to change the fee. OK...now I get to use $7? It's completely outrageous. Summary: Alaska is fine as long as you NEVER anticipate ANY flight changes. But let's be real; you will need to make some changes at some point. And at that time Alaska negates all its positives. Just fly Southwest; free baggage check and NO fees for changes and cancellations. You'll thank yourself later.

It was nice to not have to pay extra for checked luggage. Coming home the plane was delayed. The layovers were short, and we could stay on the plane.

Alaska airlines have older aircraft, but this experience made up for the lack of modern amenities. The flight attendant who made all announcements, including the safety demonstration, was hilarious. His sarcastic nature lightened up an otherwise dull flight. Too bad I didn't have him again on my following gluts with Alaska.

AS usual flights are too full and baggage cost has the unintended impact or consequence of too little overhead storage for smaller personal items.

After traveling on southwest most of the time, which I need because of the free two bag limit. I really enjoyed the no rush, simple check-in which I found at Alaska. Every seat was full, so I can't say it was the most comfortable seating during the flight. I was impressed to find my baggage waiting for me when I walked to baggage claim. That never happens, I was able to grab it and go.

Excellent flight. Good price for one way and last minute. Stopped in Sacramento but did not change planes. I chose the right airline and loved the "bags fly free" policy since I left with one (passenger in car) and returned with two!

We were very happy with our flight. This airline has the only nonstop flight between Portland OR and San Diego, and it leaves at convenient times for us, 6:45am, arriving around 9:15am and departing around 5pm, arriving at around 7:30pm. On both flights it left and arrived early. Something to consider: Alaska purges its frequent flier files data if it hasn't been used within 2 years, so we had to call customer service to re-enroll. (We plan to fly this route again.) Aside from that, the Alaska website is quick and easy to navigate. I especially like to see how full the flight will be before we book, as well being able to select seats afterward. We expect to be flying to San Diego in the future several times a year, so the competitive prices and the nonstop service means that Alaska will be our first choice for this route.

I have flown Alaska many, many times. I have never had a bad experience. There is Alaska Airlines, and then there are all of the others.
