The trip out on the 747 was rommier and the landing seamless. coming home on the 737 was very cramped and the landing was very hard. At least check in and boarding was very good.

Make sure you bring something to eat on a long flight as, since Continental's merge with United, there no longer is free food (except pretzels). I take this 5-6 hour flight 4 times a year and mostly sleep. The crew is friendly and helpful. The seats are TIGHT and I am small.

“Beware Continental's new "dining" plan !!!”

Beware Continental's new "dining" plan! Food is purchased only by credit card (teens or unaccompanied minors have one?) AND on my recent 6 hour flight from EWR to SEA, there was ONLY ENOUGH FOOD FOR HALF THE PLANE!!! People in rows 25 to 41 were only allowed to smell the food aroma permeating throughout the cabin... no morsel to eat - not even an infamous bag of pretzels. Lesson learned: Bring your own food on Continental - even long flights.

Left on time. Arrived 15 min. early. Friendly & efficient staff. YAH! except: on our sold-out return flight the luggage issue was awful with frequent requests for gate check volunteers, then gate check required because overheads were full after only 2/3 passengers had loaded. Epitomized the unpleasantness of the whole carry-on/checked bag issue which spoils the whole experience.

Nothing unusual in this flight, except the gates for handicapped and unaccompanied minors were together, and there was no coordination or supervision to prevent holdups and line crashers. Passengers had to intervene themselves!

My flight to and from Seattle was the smoothest plane ride I have ever taken. The food and service were very good. The seats could use a little more room between rows, but overall it was a very pleasant ride.

The economy seats on Alaska Air are more comfortable than many. Two small snack packages and one cookie, and tea, coffee, juices, sodas are served free. Otherwise everything costs. No general entertainment...you have to rent a TV viewer. They were on time both ways. Flight attendants pleasant enough. Costly to change reservations, however.

Flew from Newark to Seattle at the end of May, 2010. The flight out was pretty unremarkable, all aspects going as they should, I suppose. My only complaint, and certainly not specific to Continental, the carrier I flew, is that pilots should be more forthcoming with status and issues. I'm a very nervous flier, and I appreciate some reassurance. Even if it's just the pilot telling us "we're going through a little chop," as they sometimes say. So, pilots, speak up. You're in control, and we'd like to know you're aware of us...and our child-like fears. The flight back from Seattle was less turbulent, and overall better because the cabin crew were exceptional. Again, nothing from the pilot, but the stewards (attendants?) were very friendly and accommodating. They made the flight as enjoyable as hurdling through the ether in an escape-proof metal tube can be.

Worst. Flight. Ever! After having gotten on my FIRST plane at Newark, there were 'electrical problems' (not the flight crew's or the pilot's fault, of course) and we all had to disembark. As I had a connecting flight, I asked a flight attendant how long the flight from Newark to Detroit was, and if I would need to rebook it. She snapped at me, "How should *I* know? I'm not a GATE AGENT!!" I then had to rebook both my outgoing flight from Newark and my connecting from Detroit to Seattle. I SPECIFICALLY asked if my luggage, which I had checked, would arrive in Seattle at the same time I did. I should have received written confirmation that it would. The flight from Newark to Detroit was the *only* thing that went smoothly. I actually got what I asked for (a bulkhead seat -- I'm quite tall and have very long legs) and fell asleep immediately. Once in Detroit, I sat for four hours trying not to fall asleep. I ate a very greasy omelet and drank four cups of weak-tea-esque coffee in an attempt to stay awake, and barely succeeded. When I finally boarded my plane, I was in a middle row, in between two people who were spilling over into my seat. I was so tired and frustrated that I almost started crying. By that time, it was nearly 2pm, and I had been in various airports since midnight the night before. And it still wasn't over. When I finally reached Seattle, I went to baggage claim to get my suitcase. Guess what? Not there. I asked the guy who was monitoring the baggage claim if there was any more luggage coming from the plane, and if course he said no. I informed him that my suitcase was *not* there, showed him my claim ticket, told him that my plane from Newark had been delayed due to electrical problems. He started to ARGUE with me and told me that my luggage had already arrived! I looked at him and said, 'Are you kidding me? Does it LOOK like I'm holding a suitcase? Call Newark if you want to!' I guess it looked like I was about to make a scene (which I was... it was now nearly 6pm), so he just backed down. He told me I could either have my suitcase delivered to my home, or I could wait for it at the airport. All in all...TOTALLY the worst experience I've ever had. I am NEVER flying Continental/Northwest again.

My first (of many to come) Alaska Air flights was great- on time departure, even with the plane only 45% filled, and an early arrival! Very nice flight attendants, great coffee (Seattle's Best) & nice snacks! Even comfortable seats & nice seat-mates! Incredible!

My inlaws live in Seattle so I've flown this route back and forth a bunch of times on various airlines, and I think Continental does it best. Check in was pretty fast, the flight was on time (a minor miracle for Newark Airport) and in flight service was quick and courteous. I hate the Continental caved and added the checked bag fees but I'll still pay extra to fly with them to get out to Seattle.
