After loading the plane we were told that we were going to sit for 1 hour because of air traffic slow down in Newark. Soon after they said they were going to start the movie! I immediately thought there is no way this is just a one hour delay if they are starting a movie. Sure enough an hour later we again were all buttoned up and ready to go but waiting for a final maintenance check. About an hour later we were told there was a problem with one of our engines and we would be de-planing and American was bringing over another plane from the hanger. Luckily it was same plane configuration so we didn't have to get new seat assignments. After it all we finally left 3 hours late and got a Nature Valley oat and honey bar as our "gift" for being patient!

No traffic to airport, none whatsoever in airport. Economy full but plenty of room in Elite. I was upgraded to first (big deal - I get a shot of gin in my tonic as no food served), husband gets to stretch out in three seats.
As usual, Continental crew extremely professional!!

Time for Continental (United) to upgrade service and equipment. It would not hurt if the staff was more custumer friendly. A smile here and there would not hurt them.
