After a relatively uneventful flight from Managua to Miami, I had to scramble to get through immigration, baggage pickup, customs, stuffing bottles of duty-free liquor into checked baggage, only to miss my connection through Chicago to my final destination in Boston. American couldn't get me on a flight because of cancellations due to sleet and ice in the Northeast so I had to stay in a hotel (on my own dime). The next day, I got up early and went to the airport and was able to get on a flight to Laguardia in the early afternoon. However, I had to wait there all day and finally got on the last flight to Boston. Most of the passengers had to check their suitcases at the ramp, but one woman took hers on and tried to stuff it in the overhead bin. When the attendant tried to close it, the bin broke, so we all had to get off again and wait another half hour until the bin was fixed. The woman got on again with her suitcase, and we had to warn the attendant that it was the suitcase that had broken the bin. She took care of it in the nick of time, and we finally got to Boston close to midnight. Sad to say, 2 of the small bottles in the 4-bottle pack of rum I had bought at the airport in Nicaragua were broken, so I had a suitcase full of rum-soaked clothes when I finally got home!

The only reason I flew American was because it was non-stop. One flight attendant was gruff, another perfunctory. I used to enjoy flying but now it's nothing more than a bus ride that tries to nickel-and-dime you for everything.

BEST FLIGHT IN A LONG TIME,BUT THEN AGAIN, I USUALLY FLY ECONOMY. STILL, GOOD SERVICE IN AND OUT OF PLANE AND ON TIME. YES I PREFERRED BUSINESS OR FIRST CLASS, BUT EVERY ASPECT OF FINANCIAL LIFE IN THE USA HAS WORSENED. I'VE BEEN A FREQUENT FLIER SINCE 1963. TODAY'S BUSINESS CLASS IS LIKE 1966 ECONOMY.

My Husband and I purchased 2 round trip tickets on American Airlines from Boston to Miami . The flight from Boston to Miami went without incident. The Return flight from Miami to Boston went as follows. My husband and I headed for our seats, one was a window seat and one was a middle seat. When we reached our aisle we saw that an unusually heavy women had the aisle seat and the armrest was in the upward position and she did require the seatbelt extension. My husband took the window seat and I took the middle seat. Due to the women's size, she had no choice but to use part of my seat with the armrest up and I had to use part of my husbands seat with his armrest up. I was unable to place my tray down during the beverage service as her leg was blocking it. I had to sit leaning to one side with my arms straight out and crossed over at my wrist. My husband also had to sit to the side against the window. Out of respect to this women we did not call a flight attendant over to ask for a seat change. We felt that may have embarrassed her. Upon our return we did contact AA and the said due to the delicate nature of the situation they could not say anything to the women. They offered us 3K frequent flyer miles. We feel this situation should have taken care of at the gate before boarding. It was very obvious this women needed to have 2 seats to accommodate her size and this should have been addressed before boarding the plane. There were empty seats available and we also noticed a flight attendant was seated in first class. Offering us frequent flyer miles was an insult. We paid for two seats and all we wanted was what we paid for , nothing more and surely nothing less. I guess American Airlines chooses who is worthy of their customer service. Thank you for allowing us to share this with other travelers.
