Have flown to Australia from US over 20 times, on United, Qantas and Air New Zealand.. but V-Australia was over the top the best. New design, comforts, ammenities, food , was all superior to the other carriers. The flight attendants were esp well-groomed, very professional, accomodating and sincere in their service. It was a pleasant trip! yes, pleasant, even after 14+ hours!

They do not provide option to order a pre-dinner drink. Food is thrown at you, when asked if wine with your meal and you accept, then ask for a pre-dinner cocktail. Wine for dinner is taken away and you likely will miss out like I did no more pino grigo left when I wanted to eat dinner. Breakfast was unedible, would not give it to pigs to eat. Qantas is trading on its destinations, no other reason to fly with them.

Flight Attendants Surley, Hateful, Uncaring. Seats in Economy were like sitting on wooden church pews. Food portions were very small.

Loved the individual monitors with over 70 movies! They still serve real food that is good with a glass of New Zealand wine. Great price.

A 14 hour flight for a 6' man can be difficult. Although I was presented with several modestly priced opportunities to upgrade (in small steps)I chose to keep it at the most basic. It just wasn't bad and to those looking for the cheapest reasonable way to make the flight, United was a fine way and I'd recommend using them. The food was fine, with good choices.

It may take 13 to 15 hours depending on wind patterns but the Qantas personal are the best at keeping you comfortable and always with a smile!

I just returned from Australia on Delta's non-stop service. I had seat 7D on the first flight and 6D on the return. Delta's Business Elite international service rivals (surpasses) the international first class experiences I have had on other US carriers (American Airlines, Continental, United) and the attentiveness of the flight attendants was outstanding. I was more used to this level of service on Asian carriers like Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, and Thai. Nobody was impatient or rude in any way, even throughout the 14 hour flight. The equipment was a relatively new 777 LR. Lavatories were very clean and constantly restocked with wet wipes, lotion, face cloths, and toothpicks. They were bright and always clean, and I thought the wood (or synthetic wood) floors were a nice touch. The Business Elite seats are quite comfortable, even for someone as tall as I am (6' 3"). My only issues with the seat were that although there was a button for massage feature, it was not installed in the seats. The tray table is difficult to open or close unless the seat is almost fully upright. I like looking out the windows, and as all the Business Elite seats face towards the center of the plane, I had to crane my neck around to look through the window. Food was above par for US based carriers, although the wine selection was limited. The wines were quite good, not exceptional, but only two whites and two reds were available. I guess I'm just used to a wider variety. The flight attendants were quite attentive, and there was always someone walking the isles, discreetly replacing empty water bottles with full ones, offering snacks, and checking with passengers. The crew on my return flight was among the best I have ever experienced. They were friendly and very professional. Delta has really got a good product here, and I hope it continues to thrive.

Overall, an unexpected pleasure... VERY capable, polite staff in the airports as well as on the planes. Very clean waiting areas and planes. We were treated as guests, not tourists who they had to deal with. Nice touches included a ditty bag with eye shield, toothbrush and toothpaste. They told you a schedule and they stuck to it: food was good and served at certain times, movies and current news updates were available individually as well as a variety of music options. I heard that they were recently ranked in the top ten airlines in the world-- I think 7th, after Asian airlines. I can see why. In all the various rated areas, did US airlines rank in the top ten?
