The only complaint I have is that we had our seats selected. Mine was asile my husband's a window. We checked in 3 hrs before boarding and my husband ended up in a middle seat. (very upset) We were unable to check in online so consequently they gave away our preassigned seats. What's the use of getting your seats preassigned if they are going to give them away???

The flight was extremely long about 23 hours in total but the stop over was excellent, I love how the airport in Canada had sofa seats for waiting passengers, that made all the difference while waiting 11 hours to catch the next flight.

My rating is based on what I expect from long-haul first class. Not only is American's online and self check-in are the worst I've experienced, i.e., useless, but the food in economy on the return trip was better than that in first outbound. The major US carriers remain on their mission to self-destruct.

Great flight - Decent food - Served us dinner, a snack, ice cream, sandwich + drinks (wine, beer, soft drinks, etc.) during our 10 hr. flight, so we had plenty to eat. Only bad thing is that my husband did not get his window seat. Did not have a computer available so could not check in online the night before. By the time we got to the airport, all window seats gone even tho we had our seats picked out before we left home in May

I expected a great trip. I asked to be moved to exit row. I had to pay $200/seat. No one even asked if I was able. The seat was supposed to recline and didnt. The seat plug for the media was plugged, and condensation dripped on my husband the whole flight.

Return flight: Nite before we called to confirm and went to the airport (2 hrs before) to find out that they had given away our seats and expected us to all take center centers on the flight. Their customer service answer was. "What are you complaining about?? you have a seat." Bad food, surley service NEVER,EVER AGAIN!!!I'll swim first!!!.

What a wonderful experience. Loved the bag of items they gave you for the flight. Toothbrush and toothpaste, sleep mask, ink pen...the little things that made an othewise ordinary flight special.

Did the online check in. Had a friend speed to LAX to get me there on time. Stumbled over the curb and into the terminal where I'm greeted by a VA rep who says, "Have you been informed the flight is delayed by two hours because of a late arriving aircraft from

London?" Uh, no. I wish VA had the system that other carriers have where they text and/or email passengers to let them know of delayed departures. Note to self: check VA website prior to leaving the house to see if arriving flight is on schedule or not.

Had plenty of time to do the bag drop and hang out in T2 where I met some pretty cool people. Of course, a few were stressed because they would end up missing their connecting flights at Heathrow, but overall, a good time was had by all.

As for the flight itself, it was smooth and we made up time in the air so weren't as late as I thought we'd be. Like clockwork, as soon as drinks are served, we hit turbulence (why do they do cocktail service when we're flying over Red Rocks?). You just come to expect these things over time. Love watching the in-flight entertainment. Awesome crew and service. No complaints there (on my return flight, however...).

For the past nine years, I've flown VA three or four times a year. There have been some instances in the past few years where the flight attendants seemed like they resented their work, the ground staff were unfriendly and I felt like I was flying the other British carrier. Glad to see the service is back to normal standards.
