Forget about the flight, it was uneventful. However, while we were at the gate at Long Beach we saw a private plane crash on the runway. It left us dumbstruck. The JetBlue staff was professional and dealt with the situation as best as it could as they calmed everyone's nerves.

Alaska partners with Horizon, and the Horizon planes are usually smaller. First time I've experienced "a la carte" baggage service- instead of carrying your carry-on onto the plane, you drop it off on a luggage cart on the tarmac and pick it up there after the flight. Makes boarding faster and leaves more room in the overhead bins. Good idea as long as it's not raining- no fun waiting a few minutes for it upon arrival if it's riing. Optional- you can carry your bag on board if you want. Snacks are bare minimum- small bag of pretzels and a beverage. Love it that Long Beach is a small airport, but VERY limited food choices to eat before the flight or to buy to eat on board.

This review is actualy for Horizon's great nonstop service between Long Beach and Seattle. The price was excellent - $138.00 RT, and the online purchase and checkin experiences were great. Alaska doesn't try and upsell you throughout the checkin process, as United does. Parking and getting thorugh security at Long each is a breeze, the only complaint is the cramped boarding area. The aircraft is a CR7, a bigger regional jet, and the seats are comfortable and there is plenty of legroom. The inflight beverage service was a huge, pleasant surprise - they serve complimentary beer and wine! The beer was a great microbrew from Oregon. The cabin crew were very friendly and the whole experience was excellent.

I really enjoyed the tv so that I could watch whatever I wanted to watch or listen to my own radio preferences. Lots of leg room too.

A trip out of Long Beach on Jet Blue is like a step back to a kinder, more pleasant time. Staff were all well-mannered and the seats with lap-back screens were great.
