I booked thru United. I couldn't check in online with confirmation number. Had to wait until we got to the airport, then they had to hunt for our reservation.

I had trouble checking in for the return trip, but did eventually get checked in online.

Our return flight from Chicago to Kansas City was frightening. There were 4 uniformed police waiting as we checked in. We were told to have our IDs out and ready to show them. I tried to hand one of the police my ID, he said to keep going unless one of them stopped us. Made us wonder if we were safe on that flight. They were evidently looking for someone who shouldn't be on that flight.

Once on the plane, the pilot was raising and lowering the flaps, etc. on the wings repeatedly, like they weren't working correctly. The flight took off on schedule, without checking out that equipment. Once we landed, the pilot was again raising and lowering the same flaps or whatever they were. Each time there was a grinding sound. It made for a very uneasy flight. We were glad to be back on the ground.
