Our flight from Grand Rapids was delayed by many hours because of mechanical problems. Frontier finally send a different plane to take us to Milwaukee, we consequently missed our original flight to take us directly to Phoenix. We were rescheduled but then had had a layover of several hours in Denver. We finally arrived in Phoenix about six hours later than anticipate. Because of the late hour we missed our shuttle to take us to our destination but were able to arrange something else at greater cost.

Our trip home was on time and uneventful!

Outbound flight was delayed (weather related) and we were later booked on another flight through MSP rather than DTW. Even with the 2 hour delay, we arrived 1 hour early. Return flight was just fine. The biggest issue is with the security process not the airline.

I was scheduled to travel from Grand Rapids, MI to Phoenix (via Chicago) for a long weekend with family. Itinerary was a Friday night departure and a Tuesday return.

Just before I left for the airport on Friday I received a text that my flight was canceled and rebooked for Saturday morning. I called Delta customer service for new seat assignments and was told that no seat could be confirmed on the first leg and that only the last seat near the bathroom was available on the long leg to Phoenix. No apologies...just "take it or leave it."

I went to the ticket counter at GRR Friday evening to see if I could improve an already disappointing situation. To my astonishment the ticket agent was very accomodating and offered exit seats for both legs.

    Wow.

Travel was back on track Saturday morning and the GR flight arrived early enough in Chicago for me to catch an earlier flight to Phoenix. The gate agent in Chicago kindly made the switch (but noted I would be giving up the coveted exit seat.) An extra few hours with family was worth it.

Alas....that earlier flight experienced a mechanical delay after boarding. 45 minutes into that delay the gate agent boarded the plane and asked me if I wanted to switch back to my original flight!

I was one of thousands traveling that weekend but the Delta personnel in Grand Rapids and Chicago showed extraordinary care and respect.
