The Minneapolis airport was the most consumer unfriendly that I have ever been in. With wheel chair assistance it was a tremendous hassel getting from the gate to baggage and then to the hotel shuttle area. Signage was bad and wheel chair assistance dropped us off at the escalator to go down to baggage never once telling us that it was a hike to the baggage carousel and then a tremendous effort carring our bags to the shuttle area down and up escalators with no help.

We will never again go to Minneapolis under these conditions.

Get a Delta American Express card & your luggage is free for the first piece, & you get two free passes to the Delta club, which made the flight experience a lot more pleasant.

After sitting on the plane for nearly an hour, and not leaving the gate, passengers began to get very restless. Yet, we heard nothing from the captain.

Eventually, people began to leave the plane. I did so, after the flight attendant told me I could re-board. When I got off, I overheard the pilot talking to several ground crew types, telling them to bring aboard the bomb search dogs and have everyone leave the plane. Gee, thanks for sharing, Captain!

Still without any explanation for what was happening, we were ordered off the flight, told not to leave our 'guides' and follow them back out through security. Swell. Now, we had to merge with arriving passengers and fight our way through security a second time. Mind you, we still hadn't been told why.

Once through security, my wife and I gave up, saw a US Airways customer service counter, and arranged to board another flight, this time through Philadelphia.

As it happens, our two planes were at adjoining gates. No sooner did we board the new flight than the captain told us we couldn't leave because lightning had been spotted in the area. We sat on the new flight, at the gate, for nearly two more hours, as the rain fell and the airport refused to allow grounds crews out on the tarmac.

When we did leave, our original flight was still sitting at its gate.

All told, it took us 13 hours to fly from Ft. Lauderdale to Minneapolis, ordinarily a three-hour journey.

US Airways did its long-suffering passengers a great disservice by its utter failure to keep us informed of the reasons for the extreme delays.
