United has higher change/cancellation fees than the rest of the airlines in the same market. UA makes no attempt to match its competitors or work with the customer. The fares are the same but the change policies vary dramatically. Southwest offers a full credit on a cancelled flight or a credit in price if the new flight is cheaper to be used in one year. Frontier charges $50 but will credit back if the new fare is cheaper. United charges $150 and offers no credit if the new fare is cheaper. UA has not kept up with the market.

I was completely disappointed with US air in all aspects. I will never fly US Air again and I will highly recommend to everyone I know to never use US Air. The plane broke down going to my destination and on the flight back we made multiple round trips to my destination without landing in San Diego. I understand not being able to land due to weather, but it was completely inappropriate to resend the flight in the exact same conditions. The pilot specifically stated on the overhead that the weather conditions have not changed and they do not anticipate landing but we will fly out and circle for a while. On top of that the crew, while courteous, stated in front of passengers that the issue had to do with the pilot not being experienced enough to land in fog, but we were sent back with the same pilot. Rather than landing at an airport anywhere near our final destination we were again sent back to Phoenix, I'm assuming because it is your hub, not because of the convenience for passengers. We were stranded at the airport and told that US Air would not pay for food/accommodations or car rental because the issue was weather, but the soonest flight for a single person was 8pm the next night and the soonest flight for a couple was not for 2 days. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I fly monthly and stopped flying US Air for poor service in the past. This experience reconfirms that US Air continues to care about its bottom line and at no time considers the needs of its passengers. You may think you're saving a few dollars going with this airline, but you pay way more in food/accomodations/car rental and lost wages in the end.

Southwest Airlines is a great way to travel. I travel often, and they are the best! Easy reservations, easy check-in, 2 free bags which is important because I always have a suitcase of gifts for grandkids, they're on time, furnish free non-alcoholic drinks, and even give you snacks! If you have an emergency and need to change your flight without travel insurance, there is NO CHARGE! No one else does that! I will always travel with them!

I flew both SW and Frontier and I believe all the seats on SW have more room all around. And please tell me why, I check all my luggage except my camera bag and brief case. I never seem to be "allowed" to store them in the overhead, because it's for people with "roller bags". Why should I suffer with small bags near my feet when I pay to check my real luggage in. Not on this flight, but about two years ago on frontier a flight attendant THREW my jean jacket at me because I stored it in the overhead. The button wacked me in the eye. FYI, they measure your carry-on at the San Diego airport.

The plane, the first flight of the day, was loaded early and and took the average amount of time to get everyone in. The attendants were very friendly. It took an additional 15 minutes to de-ice the plane but we were fortunate to leave before the weather came in. Take-off was smooth and the landing was also very good. Very little turbulence along the way.

The only good thing about the flight was the price. Evening flight. Flight crew was late, causing 45 minute delay in departure. Flight attendant was irritable. Paid for additional flight TV service (Monday Night Football)then to find out a few mintues later that some other passengers their TV's were not working. So the flight attendants gave FREE TV service to everyone. No reimbursement or credit for those that had paid.

on our return flight my wife and I both decided to purchase the t.v. It was out of service about half the time. Really feel that it was a poor purchase. On other flights with this airline we have had the t.v. and enjoyed watching it to pass the time.

Why do airlines think that the only people affected by their flights being over an hour late leaving only involves those flying. Sometimes those picking up passengers have to wait a long time circleing the airport with no short term place to park and wait not knowing if a flight is on time or not. They also may be coming a long way from the airport with no reliable info as to delays. We were at the airport before we found out our flight would be over an hour late in leaving Denver, in fact Southwest knew about this problem all day long and made no other arrangements.

weather delays (not Southwest's fault) compounded by planes clogging gates before the weather on the outbound and an extra hour baggage delay due to equipment failures on the return.
