I've taken the American Eagle flights between ORD and GRR regularly, with few issues. However, I've taken the ORD to GRR flight on American Connection a grand total of 6 times. And in those 6 times, it has been late - on average - 87 minutes. Sure there is sometimes weather in Chicago. But one of the most frustrating was the one delay (35 minutes) because we boarded almost on time, but the gate agent FORGOT to retract the gate from the airplane. We waited for 20 minutes for the agent to walk the 50 feet down the jetway and push the button that pulled the jetway from the plane.
This past weekend was the worst. Sunday night, 8:14PM (one minute before departure) and we're in the gate area. The agent picks up the mic and tells us - finally - that our plane hasn't even left it's previous destination yet. It begins to rain. 9:20PM and we start to board. 3 of us get on board and the captain tells us to get off. No updates. 10:25PM and we finally are allowed to reboard. We board and it takes about 20 minutes (no reason on a jet that holds 35 people). We finally close the boarding door and wait another 10 minutes. Then we get into the taxi mess and wait another 30 minutes or so. We take off around 11:25PM.
Sure, weather can cause delays. But the idiocy and inability of American Connection and the American gate agents runs rampant for some reason for this flight. Trust me; it's the same people running the show every week.
