I worry a bit about aircraft maintenance when my seat back jiggles and won't lock in position. The aircraft attendants basically ignored us the entire flight after a once through, which worked out, actually. No one ever came back to take payment for the glass of wine I got, and there wasn't a landing prep sweep of the cabin, which meant no one made me turn off my Kindle for the last 20 minutes (what a silly rule).

Because my husband is visually handicapped, we were directed to the "wheelchair user" check-in line, where chaos reigned as staff took forever to deal with unaccompanied minors. There needed to be a supervisor there to speed up processing and to make sure no one cut the line, which was prevented only by the active participation of those already in line.

Flight attendants announced that movies would be free due to potential bumpiness (and there was a lot of it). We were able to not only listen to the Red Sox on XM radio but also watch TV on many channels and also check on the speed and direction of the plane. Flight attendants were friendly and offered extra "snacks" etc. We arrived on time despite the rough weather. All in all an enjoyable flight.

The flight out to SEA was perfectly fine. I wrote a letter, read the paper and relaxed in an adequate aisle seat. The plane was full so no chance for an upgrade or a move to an exit row. On the way back I was able to have an exit row (aisle seat, too) and that made all the difference. Luggage arrived safe and sound at both destinations in a timely manner. The only drawback: you have to plan trips to the lavatory carefully as the narrow aisles are often filled with beverage carts. Also the captains announcements are not always audible.

Alaska Airlines does it right most of the time from start to finish, with the start booking on line and the finish picking up the checked bag without a long wait.
