New York to Lima, Peru $227 round-trip, incl. all taxes
Earlier this morning, we spotted some great fares to Lima, not just from New York but from all US cities served by Spirit Airlines, and all of them going for about the same $227 fare. They didn't stick around for long, of course, but we're happy to hear that some of you managed to book it!

Paul, yes, this a screenshot from Orbitz. Why? Because that's the only place you could book it. Not on Spirit's site. Sorry to burst your X-Files conspiracy bubble here, but finding a fare on a third party site that isnt offered directly from the airline site is pretty standard practice. Calling a reservationist will not help, as the fare is being sold by a 3rd party site, not the airline, therefore the reservationist will have no idea what you are talking about, and probably come up with something make believey and way off base, like saying that the fares never "went through to ticketing," whatever that even means. And yes, we do check all fares to ensure that they are valid and completely bookable, and this fare was very much both. Many people were successful in booking it. Apparently, it was only available for a few hours, which happens. Sorry you missed it.

That was a screenshot from Expedia/Orbitz; it never went through to ticketing with Spirit Airlines as it couldn't have, according to Spirit themselves. This should never have been posted, and third-party reservation sales engines should always be checked for validity with a few more simple clicks.
