We're seeing some big price drops on flights to the Cook Islands from several cities across the U.S. By combining Air New Zealand's flight from Los Angeles to Rarotonga with a domestic flight on partners Alaska Airlines or United, roundtrip flights are available in the $600 - $900 range — even from the East Coast! And if you're in LA, fly nonstop for just $545 roundtrip.
- Travel Period: Late April through November.
- Travel Days of the Week: Depart the U.S. on Saturdays, Return from the Cook Islands on Fridays. Starting October 31, depart the U.S. on Sundays, returning on Saturdays.
- Blackout Dates: Some routes will have higher prices for peak summer travel.
While the fare from LA is advertised in Air New Zealand's latest sale for purchase through January 21, 2020, all other routes are unadvertised and fares may jump in price at any time.
For more deals, check out all fares to Rarotonga (RAR).
These fares include one carry-on bag, a personal item, and one free checked bag.
Seats will be assigned at random upon check-in when booking on Air New Zealand's site. You may pay a fee to choose a specific seat. Low fares from cities other than LA must be booked on a third-party site, which may allow you to choose seats for the domestic legs, but will not for the long-haul flights on Air New Zealand.
As an example, I found a flight departing New York JFK on Saturday, May 9, returning from Rarotonga RAR on Friday, May 15, for $844 roundtrip.
