Guide to Baggage Fees
Sneaky baggage fees can really add to the total cost of your flight, with some carriers now charging for carry-on bags. Checked bag fees can vary based on the weight of your bag. To further complicate matters, these costs can even vary based on where you’re flying to and from. To better prepare you, we put together an overview of expected baggage fees, by airline carrier, when flying from the US and Canada. Take a look, and pack your luggage accordingly.

Prices are each way, listed in USD. For Canadian flights, you may be charged the same amount in CAD or converted at the current exchange rate. Fees listed are for the lowest economy fare class purchased at the earliest point of sale (i.e. during online booking) and may be higher after initial booking or at the airport. Some airlines sell bundles or different fare classes, which may include bag; visit the airline’s website directly for more info on each airline’s fares. Price ranges mean the price depends on the specific route and/or season of travel.
