Frontier Airlines is offering free flights for kids 14 and under on select domestic flights through August. The promotion is exclusive for Frontier's Discount Den members and allows one free ticket for a child for every one adult ticket (15+) purchased on the same reservation.
How to Book Free Flights for Kids on Frontier Airlines
To book, you must first become a Discount Den member, if you aren't already, which has a $59.99 annual fee. Other perks of membership include discounted fares for up to 6 passengers on the same reservation and early access to booking flights when Frontier extends its booking schedule.
The next step is to choose flights that qualify for the Kids Fly Free promotion. Kids are only allowed to fly for free on domestic flights that do not require any overnight connections and on specific travel dates. Frontier lists the following dates as valid travel dates for this promotion.
- February - 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27
- March - 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27
- April - 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30
- May - 1, 4, 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, 18, 21, 22, 29
- June - 1, 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26
- July - 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
- August - 5, 6
These are mostly Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with a few Saturdays available in May and June. The terms and conditions also state that a 14-day advance purchase is required so some dates listed in February will fall out of range. This promotion cannot be combined with other offers or promo codes and it is only valid for the initial booking. Any changes to the reservation will result in loss of the Kids Fly Free promotion. Also, free-flying kids will not earn any frequent flyer miles.
Tickets must be purchased on flyfrontier.com by 11:59 pm ET, on February 12, 2019.
What's the Catch?
Of course, only the base airfare is free, and on Frontier, that doesn't include too much. Taxes, booking fees, bag fees, and other travel add-ons such as choosing a specific seat are extra. Even so, any savings does help, especially when you're traveling with the entire family.
You'll get the best value out of this promotion for travel during the summer, which is great since the kids will be out of school and able to take longer trips. There are many times when the actual base fares are only a few dollars on many of Frontier's routes for travel on these winter/spring dates so this won't be considerable savings on certain routes. However, depending on which route you're flying, you can still save big.
If you're looking to take a trip with the family, check out how much you can save using this promotion. Frontier often has the lowest fares in the markets where it flies. Major carriers usually compete with slightly higher fares, but the added bonus of free flights for kids on Frontier may steer you to give this ultra-low-cost carrier a try. Save on bag fees by traveling light and combining everything you need for the family in as few bags as possible.
