The low budget carrier JetBlue is offering their customers special travel packages to such locations as Cancun, Aruba, Bermuda and Nassau.

So of course I had to check out both the "JetBlue Getaways" packages and the competition's packages:

I will be traveling with a friend between Tuesday Januar 6th, 2009 and Friday January 9, 2009. I will depart from one of the New York area airports to Cancun. Both packages will include the 3 star Flamingo Cancun Resort. I checked out JetBlue and Orbitz, here are the results (taxes and fees included):

JetBlue:

Tuesday January 06: New York (JFK) - Cancun (CUN), 7:25am-10:50am nonstop

Friday January 09: Cancun (CUN) - New York (JFK), 11:45am-4:32pm nonstop

JetBlue gives you two options with the package:

A) European Plan (Stanard Room only with no meals included): $967.58

B) All inclusive Meal Plan (Standard Room): $1,151.18

Orbitz (using US Airways):

Tuesday January 06: New York (LGA) - Cancun (CUN), 10:00am - 3:28pm with 1 layover

Friday January 09: Cancun (CUN) - New York (LGA),2:30pm - 9:47pm with 1 layover

Orbitz gives customers the option to book a standard room or upgrade:

A) Standard Room (No meals included): $947.00

B) Junior Suite with Oceanview and Terrace (No meals included): $1,007.00

C) Standard Room (Meals, drinks, activities, taxes and tips included): $1,018.00

Orbitz also promotes a special offer to customers:

Kids 12 and under receive 50% off all food and beverages when dining with adults. Adults receive a 10% off all food and beverage. Kids 5 and under stay and eat FREE.

This again is just one example of the differences you will encounter when booking travel online. So it is always wise to check multiple sites before booking. You must book by December 31, 2008 with travel between January 3, 2009 and March 31, 2009. Blackout dates include February 12, 2009 to February 22, 2009. To see more "Getaways" with their terms and conditions, go to JetBlue.
