The Best Travel Credit Cards for In-Flight Purchases

The Platinum Card® from American Express

This card offers you a $200 annual airline fee credit that can be applied to in-flight purchases. New applicants can earn 60,000 Membership Rewards points after using their card to spend $5,000 within three months of account opening. Other benefits include lounge memberships with Delta SkyClubs, Priority Pass Select, and American Express Centurion lounges. You also get up to $100 in credit towards a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry application, as well as up to $100 in credit towards Saks Fifth Avenue purchases (requires registration). American Express® Gold Card

This card offers you a $100 annual airline fee credit that can be applied to in-flight purchases. You also receive up to $10 a month in dining credits and 4x points at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $25,000 per year in purchases, then 1X) and at restaurants worldwide. It has a $250 annual fee. United℠ Explorer Card

This card features 25% back on in-flight purchases from United. For a limited time, new applicants can earn up to 65,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 total in purchases in the first 6 months, and benefits include a free checked bag, priority boarding, and two annual visits to the United Club lounge. There’s a $95 annual fee for this card that’s waived the first year.

Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card

This card offers you 20% back on in-flight drinks and WiFi when flying on Southwest. It offers new applicants 40,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 in new purchases within three months of account opening. It has a $149 annual fee.
