For peak holiday travel, you could do a lot worse than this $375 roundtrip fare from New York's LaGuardia to Atlanta.

This fare was cobbled together using two tickets on two different airlines, Delta and American. Searching Google Flights, we found seats departing LGA on December 24, Christmas Eve, and returning from ATL on the following Sunday, December 28. It doesn't get anymore peak than that.

The catch? These fares are both basic economy, which isn't as terrible as it sounds. You still get a carry on bag plus a personal item to bring onboard both flights. You don't get to choose a seat and you board in the last group, but who cares? If the goal is to get from A to B as cheaply as possible on Christmas, this is how you do it.

As always, you'll find lower fares available along this route for non-holiday travel.
