Starting next spring, Montrealers will have a new choice of airline when traveling to Europe. TAP Air Portugal will begin nonstop flights from Montreal's Trudeau Airport to Lisbon with several connections available throughout Europe and North Africa. We're currently seeing fares as low as $525 CAD roundtrip.
TAP Air Portugal Adds Flights from Montreal to Europe
New nonstop service from Montreal (YUL) to Lisbon (LIS) begins May 23, 2020. Flights depart Montreal at 7:10 pm and arrive in Lisbon at 6:50 am the following morning. Flights return from Lisbon at 2:55 pm and arrive back in Montreal at 5:40 pm. All times local. These flight times provide ample connections throughout TAP Air Portugal's network in Europe, North Africa, and to Tel Aviv.

Baggage
These are TAP Air Portugal's "Discount" fares, which only include a carry-on bag plus one personal item. If you need to check a bag, it's best to purchase the "Basic", which costs $45 CAD more each way on TAP's website. Some of these fares may require booking on a third-party site and the upgrade may cost more. Adding a checked bag to the "Discount" fare at the airport will cost significantly more.
Seat Assignments
Seats will be assigned at random upon check-in for these prices. You may pay a fee to choose a specific seat.

Alternate Fares

By upgrading to the "Basic" fare (usually $45 CAD more each way), one checked bag will be included with your fare. Compare this upgrade to what it costs to check a bag on other carriers and these TAP Portugal fares are a real steal if you travel with checked baggage.

As an example, I found seats departing Montreal YUL on Thursday, June 4, returning from Lyon LYS on Thursday, June 11, for $546 CAD roundtrip. You may be able to get a further discount if you have a mileage balance.
