American Express has always been associated with travel, especially when it comes to premium travel rewards credit cards. In fact, it offers a full line of travel rewards cards that offer Membership Rewards points or travel rewards from Partners like Delta, Marriott and Hilton.  Furthermore, some people are so loyal to the brand that they prefer to use American Express cards over premium travel rewards products from competing issuers.

If this sounds like you, then consider one of these top travel rewards cards from American Express:

American Express® Gold Card

This card was re-launched last year and it’s a real winner. It offers you 35,000 Membership Rewards Points after you spend $2,000 within three months of account opening.  Better yet, you can earn 4X points at restaurants worldwide and on up to $25,000 spent each year at U.S. supermarkets (then 1X). You also earn 3X points on flights booked directly with airlines or on amextravel.com.

Other benefits include up to $10 in statement credits each month at Grubhub, Seamless, The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Boxed, and participating Shake Shack locations. You also get up to $100 in annual airline fee credit for incidental fees at one selected qualifying airline. There’s a $250 annual fee for this card. See rates and fees.

The Platinum Card® from American Express

This card continues to set the standard for premium rewards cards by offering amazing travel benefits. You get airport business lounge access with the Delta SkyClubs, Priority Pass Select lounges and the American Express Centurion lounges. You also receive elite status with Marriott and Hilton hotels as well as with Avis, National and Hertz car rentals. Other benefits include a $200 annual airline fee credit, up to $200 in annual credits towards Uber and up to $100 toward Saks Fifth Avenue purchases (requires enrollment). Plus you get up to $100 in credit towards the application fee for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. There’s a $550 annual fee for this card. See rates and fees.

The Blue Business℠ Plus Credit Card from American Express

(*Please note, this offer has expired. Click to see current offer details.)

This underappreciated small business card offers you 2x Membership Rewards points on your first $50,000 spent each year. Just as with the Gold and Platinum cards, these points are extremely valuable as they can be transferred to airline miles. This card also offers you 12 months of 0% APR financing on both new purchases and balance transfers (then APR 14.99% - 20.99% variable), and it has no annual fee. See rates and fees.

Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express

Delta flyers should have this card as it offers you an annual companion certificate good for a round-trip flight in economy class in the lower 48 states, for just the price of taxes and fees. You also get an annual miles boost of 10,000 redeemable miles and 10,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQMs) when you make $25,000 in charges in a year. You also get a total of 20,000 redeemable miles and 20,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQMs) when you make a total of $50,000 in charges in a year. Add to that a complimentary checked bag, priority boarding and a 20% savings on in-flight purchases, and you have a card that’s well worth the $195 ($250 if application is received on or after 1/30/2020).
