Take up to 65% off the base fare on your next Spirit Airlines flight for travel this summer and fall. Fares start at just $51 roundtrip. The discount will work on all routes in Spirit's expanding network throughout the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America. But you may need to use a simple trick to book certain routes at the discounted rate.

How to Book / Travel Availability

Just enter promo code SAVE$ when booking on Spirit.com to apply up to a 65% discount to the base fare for roundtrip travel within the following dates:

  • Travel Period: July 23 - November 20, 2019.
  • Travel Days of the Week: Tuesdays and Wednesdays. (Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays will be discounted 35% off for travel between September 4 - October 2)
  • Blackout Dates: September 3, October 9 and 15.

The discount will only apply to the base fare and not to taxes nor Spirit's booking fees so don't expect to see that large of a price drop on certain routes.

There is also a long list of excluded markets for this sale. However, I'm finding that if you search directly from the sale page, all routes are being discounted, even if they are listed as excluded.

If you get an error message when searching from the homepage, try the search again from the sale page and it may work. This bug could be corrected at any time.

Baggage

Spirit's Bare Fares only include one small personal item (small backpack, large purse, briefcase, etc.) that will fit underneath your seat. Checked baggage (up to 40 lbs.) starts at $30-$35 each way when purchased during the initial booking. Larger carry-on bag fees start at $35-$40 each way.

Seat Assignments

Seats will be assigned at random upon check-in for these prices. You may pay a fee to choose a specific seat.

Alternate Fares

Spirit sells a Thrills Combo package, which includes one 50 lb. checked bag (10 lbs. extra), one standard carry-on bag, seat selection, priority boarding, no change fees, and double miles. It would cost you more to purchase all of these items separately, but odds are if you’re flying Spirit you don’t need all those extras.

Also, make sure to compare with other airlines that might include more luggage. Even with the so-called "65% off", other airlines may still offer a better deal on certain routes.

Example Booking

As an example, after entering promo code SAVE$ on the sale page at Sprit.com, I found flights departing Newark EWR on Wednesday, September 18, returning from Los Angeles LAX on Tuesday, September 24, for $144 roundtrip.
