Delta is one of the largest airlines in the world, and they dominate several key markets including Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Seattle and Salt Lake City. They are also extremely competitive in New York and Los Angeles. If you’re a Delta customer, it can pay to have the right Skymiles credit card. However, American Express offers many different versions of this card.

Here’s a look at six of the most popular SkyMiles American Express cards. Take a closer look at what’s offered, and you can find the right one for your needs.

Blue Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express

This is the entry level SkyMiles card in the American Express lineup. It offers new applicants 10,000 bonus miles after spending $500 in purchases within three months of account opening. It offers double miles on Delta purchases, and unlike the other premium SkyMiles cards, it also offers you double miles at US restaurants. You also receive a 20% discount on in-flight purchases of food, beverages and audio headsets. There’s no annual fee for this card, but it does have a 2.7% foreign transaction fee.

Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express and Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express

Both the consumer and small business version of this card include a limited time offer for new applicants to earn 30,000 bonus miles and a $50 statement credit after spending $1,000 on new purchases within three months of account opening. These cards also offer double miles on all Delta purchases and one mile per dollar spent elsewhere. Benefits include a free checked bag for yourself and others on your reservation. You also receive priority boarding, a 20% savings on in-flight purchases and discounted Delta Sky Club access. There’s a $95 annual fee for this card that’s waived the first year, and no foreign transaction fees.

Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express

The next step up in the SkyMiles credit card line is the Platinum SkyMiles consumer small business card (not to be confused with The Platinum Card® from American Express, which is a very different product). This card currently offers new applicants 50,000 bonus miles and $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase within three months of account opening. And every year, you can also earn 10,000 bonus miles and 10,000 MQMs after spending $25,000 on the card in a calendar year, and an additional 10,000 bonus miles and 10,000 MQMs after you spend a total of $50,000 in the same calendar year for a total of 20,000 bonus miles and 20,000 MQMs. Benefits include priority boarding, your first bag checked free, a 20% savings on in-flight purchases and discounted Delta Sky Club access. And you also get an annual companion certificate, that offers you a free, round-trip, economy class domestic (lower 48) ticket, plus taxes and fees. There’s a $195 annual fee for this card ($250 if the application is received on or after 1/30/2020) and no foreign transaction fees.

The Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card

The Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card and its consumer version are the top of the line Delta SkyMiles cards. They both offer a SkyClub membership for the primary cardholder only, and discounted admission for guests. New applicants can earn 10,000 MQMs and 70,000 bonus miles after spending $5,000 within months of account opening. And every year, you can also earn 15,000 MQMs and 15,000 bonus miles after spending $30,000 in a calendar year. Earn an additional 15,000 MQMs and an additional 15,000 bonus miles after you spend a total of $60,000 in the same calendar year. Also included is an annual companion certificate, that offers you a free, round-trip, in economy or domestic first class domestic (lower 48) ticket, plus taxes and fees. There’s a $450 annual fee for this card ($550 if application is received on or after 1/30/2020) and no foreign transaction fees.
