Another week is in the books, and now it's time to kick up your feet and relax heading into the 4th of July week/end. While you’re at it, why don’t you drum up a little travel inspiration by checking out some of the best fares we’ve found over this weekend that are still available for purchase.
This Weekend's Top Airfare Picks
Airfares change daily, that's why at Airfarewatchdog we keep searching for deals around the clock, yes even on holiday weekends too. Here's a look at a handful of top fares with discounted prices below what we usually see that offer some great value. Helping you save a bunch of cash to spend elsewhere on your next getaway or a summer BBQ with friends.
Fly from Seattle to Berlin for $410 roundtrip on Icelandair this fall. Flights at this price start in mid-October and are valid for departures through the middle of December. Travel days are scarce at this price, but you can find other dates for just $15 more if you need flexibility.
This flight books into Icelandair's Economy Light, which only includes a standard sized carry-on bag plus one personal item. If booking on Icelandair.com, you can get a 20% discount on checked baggage fees during or after booking. Online checked baggage fees start at $76 each way. Higher prices apply at the airport. If you want, you can also book an up to three-day stopover in Iceland along the way by only paying the extra taxes depending on your travel dates. Speaking of travel dates, I was able to find this fare departing SEA on Monday, November 19 and returning from MUC on Friday, November 30, 2018.
Air Canada has an ongoing Worldwide Seat Sale on many of its routes departing the U.S. and Canada. Here’s one of those great deals, fly roundtrip from Denver to Beijing for 500 dollars even. Flights at this price start in late August and are valid for travel Monday through Thursdays by the end of April 2019. But beware, there are many blackout dates in between, so you'll have to be fairly flexible with dates. Searching on the sale site, I found seats departing DEN on October 29, and returning from PEK on November 12, 2018.
Fly from Houston-Intercontinental to Kona, Hawaii for only $334 roundtrip on American Airlines. To score this fantastic deal, you'll have to depart from mid-August through mid-September, with return flights available in October. Flights are open daily, but you'll have the best luck with mid-week departures. If that time of the year doesn't fit into your schedule, flights are also available for $374 in July, and $394 roundtrip in October and November. These also book into American's standard economy, which allows for that regularly sized carry-on you can fill up with bathing suits. As an example, I was able to find tickets at this price departing IAH on Sunday, September 2, and returning from KOA on Friday, September 14, 2018.
Get a jump on Spring Break early! Head south of the border with this great deal from Delta Air Lines. Fly from either Chicago-Midway or Chicago-O’Hare to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for $283 roundtrip. You can find daily departures for this fare starting in late July through Delta's end of booking schedule in May 2019. Double check your flight details as some may require a long layover, but for the most part, this fare is wide open during the fall, winter, and spring travel periods. Only peak holiday times around Christmas and New Year’s are blacked out. Searching on Delta, I found seats departing MDW on Saturday, August 18, and returning from PVR on Saturday, August 25, 2018.
Fly cross-country for only $208 roundtrip on this nonstop from JetBlue. Flights from Long Beach to Ft. Lauderdale or vice-versa are only $207 roundtrip or $104 one-way starting in late August through mid-December. Departures are available daily, but you’ll have the best luck finding seats on weekday flights. In my opinion, JetBlue offers the best economy experience amongst all US-based airlines. Searching on their website, I saw seats departing LGB on Friday, September 7, and returning from FLL on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
Note: Airfares posted were valid for purchase at the listed price at 5:00 pm EDT on Friday. The world of airfare pricing is a fickle one, and some fares may have expired overnight or could’ve sold out.
