There are some excellent airfares from all over the nation today. This week's Southwest sale is one of the better sales of the year and all airlines have matched along many routes. There are also many unadvertised flash sales to Hawaii, Europe, and elsewhere abroad. Have a look at our top 10 airfares we've found so far today for a look at where you could be later this year.

These deals are all at prices below what we normally see. Some of these fares are a part of ongoing sales and some are unadvertised, which may only last a few hours. If you are interested in any of these fares, we recommend you book soon to avoid a missed bargain.
Much lower than the usual rate on this route, fly between Houston and Memphis for $93 roundtrip on Southwest or United. Flights from Memphis to Houston are available for the same fare. This is part of the latest Southwest sale, which has been matched by United out of Houston's Intercontinental (IAH) airport. Travel is valid on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, from late August through mid-December. Thanksgiving travel is blacked out. Sale ends tomorrow night, so book quickly!
United flies out of Houston Intercontinental (IAH) and sells a basic economy fare, which only includes a small personal item. Southwest flies out of Houston Hobby (HOU) and is the better deal, as it includes two free checked bags and no change fees. Searching southwest.com, I was able to find seats departing Houston HOU on Saturday, August 25, returning from Memphis MEM on Monday, August 27.
Here's an amazing flash sale fare from Los Angeles to Detroit for $146 roundtrip on United. Also available from Detroit to Los Angeles for the same price. Travel is valid through early January, including peak summer travel. It's a standard economy fare, which includes a carry-on plus a personal item. This fare is unadvertised and not likely to stick around very long. Book now! I found seats departing Los Angeles LAX on Thursday, June 21, returning from Detroit DTW on Monday, June 25.
American Airlines has also responded to the Southwest sale by drastically dropping flights between Phoenix and Nashville to $154 roundtrip. Fly from Nashville to Phoenix at the same rate. Travel any day, except Fridays and Sundays, from late August through mid-December. Thanksgiving travel is blacked out. I found seats in basic economy departing Phoenix PHX on Thursday, August 23, returning from Nashville BNA on Monday, August 27. Upgrade to a $203 roundtrip main cabin fare if you'd like to bring a large carry-on and choose your seat.
One of the best deals from this week's sale, fly nonstop from Indianapolis to Los Angeles for $158 roundtrip on Southwest. American has matched this price on scattered dates, but only in basic economy. Searching Southwest, I found seats departing Indianapolis IND on Saturday, August 25, returning from Los Angeles LAX on Saturday, September 1. This fare is also available on flights from Los Angeles to Indianapolis.
Delta has an incredible cross-country fare from Raleigh to Seattle for $167 roundtrip, nonstop. Travel is valid on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, from mid-September through mid-November. You'll find the same price on flights from Seattle to Raleigh. This is basic economy, but still includes a normal carry-on bag plus personal item on Delta. I found seats departing Raleigh RDU on Wednesday, September 19, returning from Seattle SEA on Tuesday, September 25. If you prefer to purchase a main cabin fare, it's only $15 more each way.
Southwest also has some excellent deals on international routes this week. Fly nonstop from Tampa to Havana for $184 roundtrip. Travel is valid on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from late August through mid-September. Other days of the week are only $10 more each way. US citizens must fall within OFAC's 12 reasons for travel for a general licence. Most common reasons are family visits or educational activities and exchanges. Searching Southwest, I found seats departing Tampa TPA on Wednesday, August 29, returning from Havana HAV on Tuesday, September 4.
For New Englanders, traveling to Europe is cheaper than traveling to the west coast this fall. Nonstop flights from Boston to Barcelona are available for $265 roundtrip on Iberia's low-cost subsidiary Level. Travel is valid on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, starting in late October, through March. In order to get this price, you must book two one-way flights. For example, I found a $149 one-way flight from Boston BOS to Barcelona BCN on Tuesday, November 27. For the inbound flight, I found a $116 one-way flight from Barcelona BCN to Boston BOS on Sunday, December 9. Both flights total $265 roundtrip and this only includes carry-on luggage. We're seeing amazing unadvertised fares on United and partner airlines, from a few Delta hubs in the US, to Skyteam hubs in Europe today. One such fare allows you to fly from Seattle to Amsterdam for $350 roundtrip on Air Canada/United. Travel is valid daily departing the USA from mid-September through early January. A 7-night stay is required and you may stay up to 1-month for this price. I was able to find seats departing Seattle SEA on Friday, October 12, returning from Amsterdam AMS on Friday, October 19. United has joined the bandwagon and now charges $60 each way for checked bags to Europe on the lowest fares so travel light for this price.
Another great fare to Europe, travel from Atlanta to Rome for $388 roundtrip on a combo of Star Alliance carriers United, Air Canada, Brussels Airlines, and Lufthansa. Travel is valid for departures from the USA from late September through December. You must stay at least 7-nights for this price and you may stay up to 30-days. For example, I found seats departing Atlanta ATL on Saturday, October 20, returning from Rome FCO on Monday, October 29. Checked bag fees start at $60 each way, so travel light to get this price.
American has some excellent unadvertised fares from a few cities to Hawaii today. Flights from Minneapolis to Honolulu are $418 roundtrip for travel between late August and mid-November. Travel is valid on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. For example, I found seats departing Minneapolis MSP on Thursday, September 6, returning from Honolulu on Thursday, September 13. This price is also available from Honolulu to Minneapolis.
