Volaris is a low cost Mexican airline, but does include a similar amount of luggage as the major US carriers. Their clean base fares include a total of 22 lbs. in two standard sized carry-on bags. You can add extra weight to your carry-on allowance or a checked bag for a small fee. To get the lowest price, you'll have to accept an auto-assigned seat assignment and decline any extras that they will try to sell throughout the booking process. Volaris offers even lower fares if you join their Volaris V Club, which requires an annual fee.
Starting in March, Volaris is offering new service between the USA and Central America. Nonstop flights are available to San Salvador, El Salvador from Los Angeles, New York, and Washington D.C. and to Guatemala from Los Angeles. These flights will all continue on to San Jose, Costa Rica.
