Home Fares To A City Boston (BOS)

Flying Into Boston

Boston is served by Logan International Airport (BOS), which is located only a few miles from downtown on repurposed land in Boston Harbor. Thus making it one of the more convenient airports in America to travel in and out of. Consisting of three domestic and one international terminal the airport serves roughly 38 million passengers annually.

While Boston Logan isn't an official hub to any major airline, both Delta and JetBlue use the airport as a focus city, with JetBlue holding the largest market share at BOS. There are a growing number of international flights departing from Logan, and the airport has seen a significant increase in new airlines serving Boston over the last several years.

Boston Logan features a free shuttle bus service called the Silver Line that connects the airport to railway hub South Station. Logan is also linked to the MBTA's Blue Line subway and by ferry service to downtown Boston.

Getting Around Boston

Boston is generally regarded as a walking city as many of the major sites and attractions are dotted closely together. Traffic in the city is the norm and driving should be avoided especially for those unfamiliar with Boston's tricky one-way streets and alleys.

The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) or commonly known as the T, is the city's public transportation provider. The T features four subway lines, a robust bus network, and a commuter rail service that outstretches to Boston's suburban counties. The T is the most efficient and cost-effective way to get around Beantown so make sure to purchase and top up your CharlieCard to explore the city easily.

Things to Do in Boston

Boston is rich in American history, which can best be explored by following the Freedom Trail. A red-lined path that zigzags across the city connecting its colonial highlights like Old North Church and the USS Constitution.

Sports play a pivotal role in Boston's culture, locals live and die with hometown teams, so while in Boston try to take in a Red Sox baseball game at legendary Fenway Park or catch a basketball or hockey game at TD Garden, home of the Bruins and Celtics.

Can't-miss museums are the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, and the Museum of Science. Known for its "Chowda" Boston's seafood options are top notch and in the North End, you'll find authentic Italian restaurants and bakeries on every corner. Boston's most famous bar Cheers is worth a visit alongside the cities many new beer breweries and pubs. Across the Charles River in Cambridge hip and healthy dining options are also abundant.

If you've got shopping in mind, Newbury Street boasts the cities top boutiques and high-end shops, while Downtown Crossing is home to larger department stores. For souvenirs and other Boston themed tidbits look no further than Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, where you'll also find food stalls and street performers.

What to Know About Boston

Boston's seasons are full on, with hot and humid summers and frigid and snowy winters. The best time to visit Boston is usually in the early fall when foliage begins to change or in May and June when the heat hasn't quite set in yet. With over 35 colleges and universities, Boston is a higher-education hub and home to thousands of students giving it the nickname “Athens of America." Boston is one of the oldest cities in the United States, and as the capital of Massachusetts, it is the most populous region in the state with nearly 5 million people living in the Greater Boston area.
