I haven't traveled in a while and will only be taking carry on luggage with me. Is there a weight and size limit? Also, I noticed that airlines now charge baggage fees. Does American charge a fee? Air Lingus does weigh Carry-ons and enforces it.
All four of us had to check our carry ons. by Connie on Wednesday, March 14, 2012
It's not only AA that is inconsistant w/regard to what they may one time let you get away w/size-wise on a carryon one time yet not the next. Happened to me on SWA ONCE out of probably 10 times I flew using the same carryon. There are inconsistancies throughout the industry in various areas. Airlines are not the only companies with varying "rules", either. by mlbcruiser on Sunday, January 29, 2012
I believe some of the discount carriers that fly routes within Europe do have wt. restrictions on carryons, and/or fees, depending upon the airline. Perhaps someone else has more specific info. on this - ? by mlbcruiser on Sunday, January 29, 2012
I will be flying Aer Lingus in April. Their carry-on policy is only 22lbs/10kgs. Is really enforced? I understand size and manageable weight, but I don't want to check my valuables if it weighs 25lbs. by ras19064 on Friday, January 27, 2012
Be aware that American varies by airport and even the personality of staff. I have carried the same bag on to the plane for years. The majority of times it is allowed. But over-zealous staff have grabbed it, tagged it for checking and just let me know it is almost too large. You never know. It meets the specifications by just a little under the inches mentioned. I think it we all need to remind the airlines that we are the paying customer and do not appreciate any problems on our flights be it from staff of bad pilots. by GoGoGo on Friday, January 27, 2012
Also FYI Alaska Airlines & United (now Continental) Airlines also charge for every bag EXCEPT for international flights (United/Continental, not sure about Alaska).
All 3 of the above mentioned airlines do have carry on size limits and are similar if not the same as the ones in the answer above.
One other note, Spirit isn't the only one to charge for carryons; some airlines (at least outside of the US) do weigh your carryons and MAY charge you.
I for one have difficulty getting down to 1 carry on... /sigh by mynetdude on Friday, January 27, 2012
Allegiant hasn't charged for carry on bags. Perhaps you mean Spirit? by firecap53 on Thursday, October 20, 2011
