I just bought a 21x15x8.5 sized carry-on...while most airlines seem to allow a total of 45 inches, I'm reading some airline's carry-on sizers (such as AA) are 22x14x9. Will my extra inch on one side get me in trouble or am I worrying too much? A. Nah, you should be in the clear. Usually, it only matters if your flight is packed to the gills and everyone's bringing carry-ons onboard. We're always amazed at the size of some of the bags people lug aboard the plane. That's when they'll start looking for reasons to gate check you. Of course, even if you're well within their stated size that's still no guarantee that you're baggage will be allowed onboard if there's no room in the overheads. Whenever possible, we try to keep things small enough to fit under the seat in front of us, to avoid overheads entirely. Post a Comment
If you want to buy a car, you will have to receive the mortgage loans. Furthermore, my father always uses a auto loan, which seems to be really fast. by MARYANNVinson33 on Friday, January 27, 2012
We recently bought new carry on luggage, and were careful to buy it in black. Several times while boarding (and once while sitting innocently in the waiting area!!) our previous, bright turquoise, carry on bags were pulled aside as being too big, and we were forced to gate check them. In reality, they were literally the same size as the black luggage, but the loud color made them visually larger. So, forget the trendy colors and stick with boring black. We have not had any trouble since buying black! by luvpiano on Friday, October 14, 2011
In my experience, a lot depends on the airline personnel. I have a carry-on that fits beneath the seat and I've flown with it numerous times, encountering no problem whatsoever. One day, a cranky airport attendant insisted on taking it from me and I made it clear I was not at all pleased. She tagged it and put it aside and, accidentally on purpose, it missed my flight and I had to wait until the next day to retrieve it. Funny how that works, eh? by FLYGAL on Friday, October 14, 2011
I have a bag that is one inch over, too. What I do is pack a zippered tote bag on the top with things in it I don't want to let go like camera, jewelry, cosmetics, medicines, etc. Then, if I do have to gate check it, I can pull it out and put it under the seat in front of me. I have found on international flights even my suitcase that is within the published limits does not fit in their little box and have had to gate check it. by tucker on Friday, October 07, 2011
