What's the deal with Y-Up and Q-Up fares? A. These are restricted (as in there is a cancellation/change penalty) economy class fares that are cheaper than full fare economy class, and seated in first or business class. These fares can be especially handy for business travelers looking to skirt office policy against buying business class fares. Post a Comment
I went on Travelocity to find Y and Q fares, business with restrictions and could not find this, can anyone help ? by Pnurse323 on Tuesday, June 09, 2009
If you want to travel biz class on international flights, and YOU are paying for it, become a member of a frequent flyer program where you can buy unlimited miles. Alaska Airlines (partners with a LOT of other airlines) Mexicana (partners with many, including some that fly to Asia) both sell unlimited miles, and you can book a flight in biz class with purchased miles. For about $1000 less than it costs to get a restricted fare for cash. The downside, of course, is that you don't earn miles when you travel with FF miles. But biz class fares cost 100,000 miles or more for international travel. And miles are worth about 2.5 to 3 cents a piece. So contrast the 9000 miles -- worth about $250--to the saved $1000. I'll take that, any day. by mickisue on Monday, June 08, 2009
