Code shares: Which rules apply?

Q. My husband and I are flying to Canada. Our tickets show that we are booked on Air Canada for our flight home. Because it is a code share, we will actually be on a United flight. Air Canada allows you to check a bag without charging a fee. United does not. Which rules apply?

A. Here's what Air Canada has to say about this on their site:

Because each airline has its own terms and conditions of carriage, whenever you are traveling on a flight operated by one of Air Canada's code share partners, you may be subject to terms and conditions that differ from those of Air Canada. If is therefore important to familiarize yourself with the operating carrier's terms and conditions, including those regarding:

Check-in times and procedures

Carry-on and checked baggage

My daughter and I are taking a cruise out of Rome on the 12th of july. We are looking at ariving 3 to 4 days before our cruise and staying about the same amount of time after. Does any one know of some travel deals to Rome or to get us close to Rome. We are traveling from Ontario and have located some availability for our trip. However, we would like to hear if their is better deals out there that we have not seen. We are willing to travel to Buffalo if the price is better other wise we will go out of Toronto.

Flying to Canada should be an international flight and as such United will allow you to check a bag without cost. Check it out.

Like Robert Crandall is once supposed to have said (one of the few things the old curmudgeon who once ran AAL said that I liked), code shares are a fraud.

By the same token, I have a UAL ticket, but all flights are code-shared AC flights... so I get 2 free check-ins. :)

Not an acceptable respons from Air Canada. But then, what do you expect!

Many specials have limited ticketing available and are for specific days (i.e. must travel on Tuesdays and Thursdays) so you have to act fast and be flexible.
Might want to check the FAQ, it gives information on just this problem and how to go about finding these tickets when they're available.
