A. With the exception of Southwest, which does not charge a fee for changing your travel date, yes, airlines generally are this unhelpful. With policies such as this, it's no wonder Southwest is actually making money while most of the other guys aren't. This is why it's so important to shell out those few extra bucks for travel insurance, like Travel Guard, which would have covered all those pesky little nonrefundables in the event of an illness such as this. To what extent, of course, depends on your policy, so always read the fine print. Post a Comment
How about a more productive answer. Book a round trip on another airline other than United. Use the first leg of the ticket to get home and trash the balance of the ticket. It would be cheaper - assuming that Southwest doesn't fly to your town and that other rates are outrageous. You have to be inventive to get around customer no service. Everytime the airline has a problem, I seem to pay. Anytime I have had a problem (small or larger), I seem to pay. It is sad that it comes to this. by on Thursday, May 29, 2008
