Things to do and see in Boston, MA

A great place to start your visit is at BostonUSA, the official visitor's site.

Boston is full of fun things to do, like touring the city on a bus/boat amphibious vehicle. The Boston Duck Tour drives you around town, then later dives into the Charles River and ferries you around the city. If you're interested in seeing historic Boston, the Freedom Trail will guide you to many important sites including the Paul Revere House. And the Museum of Fine Arts has an impressive collection for art-lovers.

Our fave place to stay in Boston

We only stay in dog-friendly hotels, and the Fairmont Copley Plaza is the dog friendliest of all!

In addition, our affiliate website Viator.com has a great list of suggestions. It's complete with descriptions and prices, and if you see something you like you can book the tickets online before you go.

Airfare Search Tips

Buy tickets on an airline that will refund the difference if a fare goes down

Let’s say you’ve done your best to find the lowest fare, and then the day after purchase your non-refundable fare goes down $100. Sure, if you ask for it you can get a refund for the difference, but it’s a little-known fact that some airlines will charge you a “service” or “administrative” fee as high as $150 for domestic fares or from $200-$300 on international ones, wiping out any savings. United, however, will give you the entire fare difference without extracting a fee, as will Alaska Airlines as long as you accept the reimbursement in the form of a voucher good for future travel.  Southwest is the best in this regard: they'll give you a flight credit for the difference, good for a future trip. Even with these less generous airlines, however, we’ve heard of plenty of instances where a polite entreaty will get you a full fare difference refund without the penalties, so it’s worth try.
