Q. I would like to plan a reunion for my family of 13, between the ages of 5 and 79 for the summer of 2006. While in a waiting room recently, I read of a resort located in the mountains of North Carolina that sounded interesting, but unfortunately, I forgot to jot down the name. It listed a number of activities available with local entertainment in the evenings, with two meals included per day. Do you know of a place that would be fun for all ages? We would prefer a place with a pool.
A. There are over 150 resorts in North Carolina, and most offer what you’re looking for, but one of the most popular resorts in the state is the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa (800/438-5800) in the beautiful city of Asheville. It has a golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, resort shopping, four restaurants, a 40,000 square foot spa, and children’s programs for ages four through 12. One of their more popular packages is the Bed, Breakfast and Dinner package, available Sunday through Thursday nights with rates starting at $455 for two adults, per room, per night for the current shoulder season. Their summer rates haven’t been posted yet. If that’s not the resort you had in mind (since the price would break the bank of most), you can contact the North Carolina Tourism (800/847-4862), where a helpful agent might be able to give you some more ideas.
