A flight from DCA to MXP with 3 hours stopover in NY. Delay leaving DCA because of mechanical problems and runway problems in NY. Stopover time shrinks to 30 minutes. Go to ticket counter to get bag back so I can run for it when I get to NY to make the Milan flight. That not possible so agent has my bag moved to a flight to Atlanta to connect to MXP. Gives me business class! Go to Atlanta and then wait with no explanation for 11 hours. Got delay notices in 30-45 minute increments so couldn't do anything except hang around. No explanations. Got a $6 food voucher around 10 PM when concessions closed. Finally got on board too tired to do anything but sleep. Slept great. Missed an entire day in Italy and never knew why.
