    “AirTran gets my vote to RSW”

    AirTran does an all around great job. (Hope it stays that way once they become part of SW) While their coach seating has essentially no leg room for a 6' individual they excel in service and on-time departure/arrivals. I have flown their 8am departure from DCA to RSW over 80 times and not once has it been canceled or were we late departing. On most occasions if the plane is full we leave early. Their planes are consistently clean and the cabin crew always able to accommodate everyone's carry ons compared to some other carriers flying out of DCA.

    I have to say that it will be most disappointing post merger with the loss of reserved seating but I don't see Southwest changing.

    We arrived at DCA and in the process of being checked in the supervisor came up and told us our soft sided baggage was too big although under the weight limit. She stood the bags on their end so the contents sank into the middle and then measured them. My daughter who flies in her job and I use the same bags every trip. The supervisor was aggressive and just watched as other people checked in and when we inquired why she wasn't measuring their bags even though they were obviusly larger, said I can check who I like. My son in law had missed the flight to rush to his mothers side who was being given the last rites we had two small children with us. She finally conceeded as I rearranged my case it could pass but charged us $50 extra for my daughters we had to get the flight or we would have walked away. Neither my daughter or I now allow our staff to fly AirTran.

    Never ever take the seats in the back row of this flight. There is NO room and the seats don't recline. My back was killing me when I exited. Luckily, this flight was 2 hours long, any longer and I would've gone insane.

    But that's what I get for buying a last minute deal.
