I booked this flight in November 2009. Nine months later with three weeks to go until the [Labor Day weekend] flight, Direct Air leaves me a message that the flight was canceled. Shocked, I called them back, only to have a very rude representative offer nothing but a refund and tell me that Direct Air doesn't even fly to Myrtle Beach in September -- insinuating that it was MY fault their system booked me for this flight. (Back in November, I had even discussed my seating with them, so I know it wasn't an oversight -- plus the local paper ran an ad saying they flew to Myrtle Beach through October.) Since it was such short notice and a holiday flight, I was stuck paying $600 more and driving to St. Louis's airport. The only reason we chose Myrtle Beach was for the convenient flight. Note: Had I chose to cancel, Direct Air would charge a penalty of $75 a ticket -- but they offered me no retribution, not a discount on a future flight, not even an APOLOGY. And I didn't even get my refund for two weeks -- when I got the BBB involved.
