Getting a non-stop to somewhere besides MSP, ORD, or DEN is great. The timing on this flight is great. Leaves FSD at 7:45 gets you to DFW and at the gate before 10:00. The return flight leaves DFW at 7:00 and gets you back to FSD around 9:00. I think this route runs 7 days a week. I have flown this route probably 6 times since it started in April and it has always been on time in both directions. The EMB 145 is a regional jet and the single row seating on the left is a little short on leg room but you don't have anyone sitting next to you so it is kind of "mini 1st class". The right side has double seats and when I see two larger people sitting together they look pretty cramped. In flight service is typical for a regional jet with only one flight attendant. Air temperature on the EMB 145 has always been good even after sitting on a very hot DFW tarmack and is also comfortable in flight. I appreciate the smaller size of the aircraft because it boards and de-planes quickly. Carry on luggage is restricted to smaller size bags in the cabin, but normal sized carry-ons are gate checked. Since there is no plane change the short time delay waiting for your gate checked items is not a problem and is still quicker than regular checked baggage and is still at no charge (as of 8-10).
United is now having to step up and compete, but with the stop over in DEN the convenience factor is low. I recently booked with United via Expedia for $156 round trip. That should encourage American to get back into more competetive pricing.
