Now that we no longer can expect complimentary meal service on flights (maybe the airlines were so tired of the 'bad airline food' comments, they decided that removing the service entirely would give them the last laugh), the only thing left to look forward to is the beverage cart rolling down the aisle, and flight attendants offering you a choice of beverage and, depending on the airline, maybe a little bag of peanuts though on second thought, likely not - but maybe pretzels, or a cookie, or two... Well, on United its actually just a beverage cart - no little bag of anything... if you have a redeye flight and are hoping to get a bit of shut eye, you'd better have brought your own pillow and blanket because the airline doesn't stock those any more either. While waiting by the bathrooms I chatted with one of the flight attendants who said that she, frankly, is embarrassed by the lack of service that they are able to provide to passengers - and said that these days the most she can offer is a smile... she was very friendly and pleasant and I told her that was appreciated, in the end, certainly even more than a little blanket or a bag of pretzels, though on a 5 hour flight that would have been nice, too.

It appears that comfort of passengers is very low on this airline. If you want a few extra inches of leg space you can pay for it. No food, you can pay for it. No pillows or blankets in economy. I don't believe that we will use this airline in the future.

This was primarily a mileage run, SEA to DEN, DEN to LAX, LAX to KOA. Return was just KOA to LAX, LAX to SEA. Due to my premier executive status w/ this airline, I was upgraded to first for each segment. It was great. Food was good, flight attendants nice, on-time, no lost bags. Best trip in a long time.

It is a long flight to Hawaii, especially with kids and all the "gear" we take with us to entertain them. This flight was the best we have had going to Hawaii. It had the most space at your seat. They served destination snacks like Macadamia nuts and Mai Tai’s on the way there. The food for purchase was OK and the bag few was at the lower end. Staff on the plane was friendly.
Check-in wasn't great in Kona, but the staff doing the check in had United shirts on if that matters.
