As per usual, I don't find Hawaiian to be anything to rave about, but then I never find it all that bad either. You get the basics....it's never as cramped as Alaskan....and the crew is usually pretty friendly.

First time traveller with Hawaiian. Was impressed with the flavor of the Hawaiian islands, free magazine, meal offered. Seats were average, I get restless quickly. Hospitality was good. Didn't like having to pay for each piece of checked luggage, but that seems to be the way of the future.

Flight departure and arrival times work out vert well for us. There is no flying all night to arrive tired the next day which is great. Also there is no getting up in the middle of the night to catch an early flight. The meals on board are just adaquate whether complimentary or purchased, but, that seems to be the direction the i9ndustry is taking and is not a problem. The $25 for the first check-in bag seems a little much. This could be built in to the price of the flight. People with only carry-on get the advantage of not having to wait for their luggage at arrival while those of us who check-in our bags have to do the wait at the carousel. We also have to wait for all the carry-on luggage to be stowed while we are trying to get ourselves to our assigned seat at departure and wait again at arrival for the same bunch of free luggage to be removed before we can deplane and head for the wait at the luggage carousel. Put shortly: Paying customers waiting a lot to convenience non-paying customers doesn't feel quite right. Overall: The experience with Hawaiian was good and we will continue to fly with them.

The staff throughout our entire trip were excellent, the aircraft had sufficient room and they still offer in flight food service! On our flight down to Maui we received a complimentary lunch and on the way back we got dinner, both came standard with our airline tickets!

The free Mai-tai was a surprise bonus, although it was pre-mix, and not that good, it was a nice gesture. The crew was also cool, presenting leis to the longest-married couple and to the person who answered a tricky trivia question.

We (my husband and 2 daughters) looked forward to our summer vacation to Maui. We are a middle income class family so we work hard and save money in order to go on special vacations. The flight to Maui was an average flight. The time spent in Maui was magical. The flight home was the end of the magic. Prior to boarding, my girls asked if they could rent a DVD player. They saved some of their souvenir money so that they could pay the rental fee. Of course I said “yes.” We boarded the plane; our row number was around 40. I couldn’t see the big screen and had to move my head and neck into a very uncomfortable position in order to see the small TV. I thought at least the girls will have something to watch so it’s not that big of a deal. My daughters asked very politely if they could rent a player and the attendant said yes, but, they were starting at the front of the cabin and would work their way back to us and let them get one. Imagine my daughter’s disappointment when they were out of players by the time they got to us. Somehow, the people in the row behind us got one. (I wasn’t aware of this until my girls told me the next day.) The attendant had a very cool almost hostile attitude when she said they were out of players. The next disappointment was the lackluster film that was shown on the screen that we couldn’t see anyway. Then came the meal service. I guess we are supposed to be grateful for this as most airlines have discontinued serving them. We listened to the choices of entrées and of course by the time they got back to us they only had the sandwich and again seemed to have a bad attitude towards the remaining passengers. It was as if they were saying take it or leave it. Just be glad we offered you something. At that point the girls asked me if it was cheaper to sit in the back where we were sitting?!! I understand that the flight attendants take a lot of grief from the flying public. I’m sure they were unfriendly when they ran out of items as a personal defense mechanism. All I expected was the same courtesy that my family and I extended to them. I think that the upper management of Hawaiian Airlines should rethink the way they manage their inventories. I will avoid Hawaiian Air in my future travel plans.

This was a very good experience. The airline is most always on time, it's seats are comfortable, the service is good, and they feed you real hot food for free. I would highly recomend them.

Overall our trip was good. The flights there were on and airbus A319 (we didn't have assigned seats and were seated in the upgraded economy seats which are roomier. For the main flight we were on a Boeing 777. Sat in the middle rows and there was room to spread out (the flight was not booked full) good service and current movie to watch. On the flight home from San Francisco we were again on the Airbus A319 but seated in the back row. Bad idea!!!!! the seats in front can still recline toward and you can't recline or anything. The leg room is marginal already. If it's your only choice, choose another flight time!

The flight staff was wonderful and extremely attentive. The flight home was even better, no layover and staff came around so often you almost did not have time to get to the bathroom. Pillows and blankets are free.

Carry on bags had 25 pound limit! Who knew?? Overheads not deep enough for a bag lengthwise. What a mess.
