So I flew from Seattle overnight into Detroit, and then was to go on to Albany (NY) in the morning. All went smoothly from Seattle to Detroit, but when I arrived in Detroit, my flight had been canceled (because THEY DIDN'T HAVE A PILOT!!!) Delta proceeded to book me to leave *24* hours later, and fly to Charlotte, then Atlanta, then to Albany (check a map...ridiculous). When I called Delta to talk about this rebooking, they had the unmitigated gall to tell me that THOSE WERE THE FLIGHTS *I* booked originally! So, right. I flew on the 27th, overnight, and decided to take a tour of the East Coast on my way to little ol' Albany. They finally did get me on a flight to Albany, but *16* hours later. I needed a shower and some sleep, but they refused to give me a hotel room "because it's not overnight". They also refused to intervene with the Delta Lounge, which said they'd let me in...for $50. Expensive shower. I did get 3-$10 certificates to "cover" (hah) my breakfast, lunch and dinner. RIDICULOUS experience. I lost 2 days of my vacation and I am livid. I haven't written to Delta yet because I haven't decided how to turn the situation to my maximum benefit...but I WILL!!! All this on top of the fact that my trip cost $550+ on Delta!!! ...to get across the COUNTRY!!! I could have flown to Hawaii for significantly less money!!! So, wanna fly Delta???
