Couldn't check in curb side even though I had paid my baggage fee on line and had my boarding pass already. Lines inside way too long, need more people behind the counters. Very unusual for SRQ. Don't know if I'll fly USAir again. At DCA on return trip, had long line to pay for $2.00 handling fee to porter. Need to redo their system to be more customer friendly.

We got an excellent price for the DCA-SRQ flight, it's usually much more expensive, so that got us off on the right foot. USAirways Express (= Republic) handled everything just fine. The Embraer is a comfortable small jet, not too squeezed.
The only glitch was on the return flight earlier today. Unfortunately, we were running a bit close, but we got to the gate about 15 minutes ahead of the ETD. Yet the gate agent said they were about to close the flight because the pilot wanted to take off early. I think this is unacceptable, for a gate agent to make us think we are derelict just because the pilot is in a hurry. I think the advertized ETD should be stuck to and no passenger should ever be chastised for relying on it. We'd have been there a half hour beforehand if we could have, but they're not supposed to close the flight 15 minutes early. The plane was only about half full anyway!
Still, all in all, we are satisfied with this flight.

I was amazed at how long the lines were at the US Air counter and surprised they didn't have curbside check-in. Got to the airport 80 minutes early and barely made the plane after the US Air line and the security line; very unlike SRQ. Then had a US Air person be very terse about being late after I ran to the gate. Then we sat on the plane another 15 minutes before the door closed. It reminded me why I don't usually fly US Air. Rest of flight okay though.
