Before we ever checked in we knew we were in trouble; forget it if you ever need to contact Spirit Airlines! They do not have any customer service. Period. IF you can get a person on their 800# it is someone in India or Pakistan who cannot speak or understand english. I even tried emailing my question and never got a response. At check-in, there were 2 to 3 people "working" at the counter who were talking to each other and staring into their computers...20 people in front of us and it took 45 minutes to get checked in. Then they couldn't assign a seat because they oversold the flight. There was something wrong with the A/C so even after they finally boarded everyone the plane sat for an hour until people were hot and sweaty and irritated. We took off arriving an hour later than scheduled and many people, including us, had connecting flights we were worried about. Then they couldn't get the door open to let us off...30 minutes after we had pulled up to the gate they finally said they needed to shut off all power and it would be pitch dark for a minute while they restarted everything; so clearly they were having an electrical malfunction of some sort. I guess we are just happy we are home safe and sound but will never fly with Spirit again ever. DO NOT be fooled by their cheap fares after that they charge you for everything, including carry on baggage.

I have no problem not getting the pretzels & soda can (which can be bought in the terminal) in a 2 hour flight and save $180.00 per ticket, allows me to fly more often with my family and splurge on hotel. I will be using them again in September. In Feburary got 4 round-trip tickets for $320.00 including taxes. For September 2010 got 3 tickets for $306.00, even if I had to pay the $19.00 surcharge for the carry-on (which I don't because we booked before this was implemented) at $121.00 per ticket it is a great deal. People are willing to travel and spend their money, but there has to be some added value to it, this airlines allows us to travel 2-3 times per year vs. only once...put it in perspective and you to will understand that pretzels and a soda can are not worth the extra $$$ and does not in any way add any value to already high margin airlines ticket.
