My husband drove me 600 miles from Beaverton, OR to San Jose, CA so I could fly to Minneapolis with my sister to visit our parents (it's a trip we've done for 10 years but this is the first time I went down to fly with her). Had our reservations for about 4 months and seat assignments. I checked everything 2 days before our scheduled flight and everything was as booked. When I checked in online the night before our flight, they had reassigned our seats and now we were 10 rows apart. I called Delta and talked to an agent and was told that our original plane was not coming in so we were placed on another plane. I told her my story of travelling 600 miles to fly alongside my sister but was told there was nothing she could do. I talked to her supervisor who said she couldn't do anything. We got to the airport early and at the counter they took care of us with no problem. In the end it all worked out but why couldn't someone help me on the phone before I got to the airport and why did they not place people together who had made reservations under the same confirmation number. Although it worked out, I was upset all night and thought we'd have to be begging people to change seats with one of us. I originally had an aisle seat and had been having a problem with my leg which required me to get up often. The seat assignment they placed me was a window seat which would have made for a very uncomfortable flight.
